Kingside Restaurant

Scott Gerber, CEO of hospitality and nightlife company, Gerber Group brings his restaurant and bar expertise to Kingside, located at the new Viceroy Hotel on New York City's famed and bustling West 57th Street.

Located on the street level of the hotel, Kingside features New American classics highlighting fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, paired alongside hand-crafted cocktails. The seasonally-driven menu at Kingside highlights small plates, pastas, fish and meats with an emphasis on sharing, including a 28 Day Dry-Aged Cowboy Rib Eye for two. The bar at Kingside features an extensive selection of regionally brewed craft beers, a wide range of small-batch spirits, and exceptional international wines. The cocktail menu includes an ever-changing selection of innovative house cocktails which highlight market fresh ingredients, in addition to classic cocktails with a modern twist. Designed by Roman & Williams, Kingside embraces a casual yet rich interior, clad with a strong graphic palette of black and white in glazed brick and zinc tile, juxtaposed with caramel leather banquettes, and bright red stools situated at the classic food counter in the rear of the restaurant.

Chef Marc Murphy

Ask Chef Marc Murphy where he grew up and he’ll fire off a list of cosmopolitan destinations — Milan, Paris, Washington DC, Rome and Genoa. For some, growing up the son of a globetrotting diplomat might have been stressful, yet for Murphy, this dizzying list of hometowns served as an excellent education in French and Italian cuisine, and afforded him the luxury of learning from a young age just how much he loved the world of cooking and of restaurants. Since then, Murphy has logged more than 20 years in the restaurant business, working in some of the world’s most highly esteemed kitchens, including Le Miraville in Paris, Alain Ducasses’ Louis XV in Monte Carlo and Le Cirque in New York.  

Today, he serves as the Chef and Owner of Benchmarc Restaurants (Landmarc and Ditch Plains) and Benchmarc Events by Marc Murphy, as well as the Chef of Kingside at Viceroy New York. He is a judge on The Food Network’s top rated hit CHOPPED, President of the Manhattan chapter of the New York State Restaurant Association, a board member and member of the Food Council for City Harvest and a member of the Leadership Council for Share our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign. In 2012, Marc joined the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Culinary Partnership, where he takes part in public diplomacy programs abroad and in the United States. 

Marc is the Author of Season with Authority: Confident Home Cooking his debut cookbook which was released on April, 28th 2015.

Scott Gerber is the Principal and Chief Executive Officer of hospitality and nightlife leader, Gerber Group. Setting out to provide an innovative nightlife experience, Gerber Group opened their first property, The Whiskey at the Paramount Hotel, in 1991. Soon after, Scott took the lead in forging a partnership with Starwood Hotels & Resorts to develop the W Hotel brand, which now features Gerber Group venues throughout the U.S. and in select properties internationally. The partnership is widely credited for changing the landscape of the nightlife industry by creating unique, innovative venues that have re-defined ‘hotel bar.’ Today, Scott manages the company and its full portfolio of properties.
